FRIEDEMANN

FRIEDEMANN is likely known to some people by now. I’m not referring to the singer of the unfortunately defunct band COR, but rather the singer who now performs solo with just his guitar on smaller and smaller stages, showcasing his repertoire. The once loud tones have become quieter over the years.

FRIEDEMANN has released seven albums to date. Now, the eighth album is coming out, available as a double CD or a triple vinyl in a beautiful fold-out cover, hand-packaged by the singer himself.

FRIEDEMANN has thus compiled a large songbook, and on “Alles richtig Naiß hier!?“, he showcases the full range of his work.

A whole concert has been captured on record. That’s over two hours of music.

However, it’s not just music. It’s a ride through the emotional world of the man from Rügen, and you also learn a lot about his life and his perspective on the small and big things.

This review is not meant to quote the interview but to serve as a supplement, if that’s even possible. I think it is, because with FRIEDEMANN, music and attitude go hand in hand. Both are intertwined and fused.

The songs by FRIEDEMANN deal with fascism and injustice in this country and what can be done about it. They are an encouragement to live independently and take responsibility for one’s life. The songs talk about “Having & Needing,” about “Peace,” “Freedom,” and “Joy.” Of course, they also touch on “Love.”

FRIEDEMANN is someone who doesn’t mince words and has mastered the German language so well that his lyrics possess a unique power that is hard to escape. It’s this voice, there’s something primal in it, an unbridled force.

FRIEDEMANN is honest; he knows that he alone on stage draws all eyes to him and skillfully uses this. His songs hit the mind and touch the heart. They are sometimes cheerful, but often longing, sad, but also angry, and sometimes even resigned.

FRIEDEMANN doesn’t whine. That’s important to him. He doesn’t want bitterness. He is a person who takes action, reflects, questions himself, and continually looks for ways to improve his small world. That may sound naive, but if everyone improves a little, it will make a difference on a larger scale. True to the motto, many drops of water can become waterfalls.

The honesty and directness of FRIEDEMANN can also be exhausting. FRIEDEMANN addresses topics that are not trivial and easy.

FRIEDEMANN always speaks about life in his lyrics. Life as it is. We all know that life is not always beautiful.

When I listen to FRIEDEMANN, I know that I am not alone. There is someone who thinks similarly to me. FRIEDEMANN gives strength with his songs. It is exactly this strength that one needs to keep going, to follow one’s own path.

FRIEDEMANN gives you the feeling of not being alone.

With “Alles richtig Naiß hier!?“, FRIEDEMANN has released what I consider to be his most personal work. It is more than just a concert recording. It is music from the heart, for hearts...for people.
