ACT THE FOOL from Ulm released their third EP in July 2024, which is available as a single-sided 12" vinyl. The record comes in two different versions, one in orange with black splatter and the other in turquoise marbled.

The band sings entirely in German on this EP. It is their first EP where they sing completely in German. This is not uninteresting, as the band from Ulm has dedicated themselves to the hardcore sound. There aren't many bands in this genre that sing in German. As far as the lyrics can be understood, unfortunately, I was not provided with the lyrics, there is no "Dicke Eier Weihnachtsfeier" hardcore here, but rather lyrics with depth. The lyrics are very political, very direct, and clear. Climate change is addressed just as much as the Nazis in the parliaments and our society as a whole. Capitalism and egoism are spreading among us. What can be done about it?

ACT THE FOOL has a lot of anger inside. They manage to transform their anger into energy, more specifically, into danceable hardcore (with hardcore punk influences) of the newer school.
Personally, I would have placed the vocals a bit more in the foreground, but overall this is a great recording that conveys pressure, anger, and energy.
ACT THE FOOL is a band to remember and should be given a chance. I can imagine that the guys can really tear it up live.
