THE INCITERS come from Santa Cruz in California and have been active and on the road for over 20 years. They will soon be coming to Europe and will also play a few concerts in Germany.
THE INCITERS are a ten-member soul band that is heavily influenced by Northern Soul as well as Mod. Seven men make music while three women sing at the front of the stage. The three women share the lead vocals as well as the background vocals, which is not very common and can certainly be seen as a trademark of the band.
The EP “I give you my soul“ includes five songs. These are the first new songs since the band released “Bring back the Weekend“ in 2023.
The five songs provide a good insight into what the band has been playing for many years.
There is warm, heart-filling soul. There are longing lines that come from the deepest soul. There are danceable melodies and perfectly fitting vocals that give the songs character and depth.
While listening to “How can I make it without you“, the second song on the EP, I noticed that this song's chorus reminds me a lot of “Your love is making me stronger“ by Lukas Sherfey. Lukas released the song in 2008 on his debut album “Soul Vacation“. A lovely Northern Soul Mod album that unfortunately few have come to know. The excursions of the singer and mastermind of The Movement into soul have unfortunately received far too little attention.
But let's return to the band from California.
The songs of THE INCITERS have power, heart, warmth, and a lot of character. It is music that is rarely found today.
THE INCITERS are almost a small big band with the sound of days gone by.
As is fitting, the EP is released in physical form only as a 12" vinyl.
