And once again, good stuff from our beautiful city "Kölschtown". SE Sichelzecken have been around for a while now. The band was formed in 2002 with the following quote "....we suddenly felt the almost insatiable desire to create a shitty Doitschpunk band with an even shittier name." I could completely agree with that when I saw the band live at the Sonic Ballroom in February 2006. One of those shows that you could have skipped. I didn't like them at all live. The flailing of one of the frontmen had more to do with pill distribution at the Lala Ranch 3000 than with punk rock. It all just didn't fit somehow. Oile Lachpansen handed me the new issue "What is this supposed to be, a generation?" from the band, which will be available at KATZE PLATTEN starting April 2, 2007. With a lot of skepticism, I put the CD in my player and was initially stunned by the sound the band is playing today. Every now and then, the guitars are too heavy, and the vocals get lost, which is a shame because they harmonize very well with what the guys are putting out today. A bit of BASH, WIZO, TERRORGRUPPE from their early days... just with different lyrics. Here and there, even a hit you can sing along to. A good compilation of the 14 songs that have been packaged here. It seems that the gentlemen here are not revealing the whole truth... because it’s not that bad anymore! High quality that cries out for a bigger label!
