YEAH! Right now, 14 street punk tracks are blasting from my speakers and I'm feeling like having a real good time today. Man, my boredom has disappeared in no time. And that's solely due to the third long player "AT THE END OF THE ROPE" from the quartet out of Sweden. If you're looking for poetry here, you might as well pack it up. The lyrics from THE NEGATIVES are straightforward and genuine. Whether it's about broken relationships and the subsequent alcoholic downfall or simply life in the big city. Any intellectual statement is immediately suffocated with the first chord. And that's what I like about the Swedes. Here, only the music matters! The opener "Kick It In" immediately reminds me of U.S. BOMBS. And this description runs like a thread through all the tracks. Here and there, you can still hear clear RANCID influences. But despite all these comparisons, THE NEGATIVES maintain their own style. Even though this isn't really anything new, the whole album never sounds boring or tired. For me, THE NEGATIVES are already one of the best street punk bands. And with "AT THE END OF THE ROPE", they prove how punk can still sound in 2007. Thumbs and spikes up!!!
