Honestly, ten years ago I would have probably boycotted the CD. On one hand, targeting Myspace and on the other hand, having an account there myself (http://www.myspace.com/deathcycleny). And then you can also order the CD from Weltbild, where my mother buys her books and CDs. Consequence, refusal, and underground are written differently. But today, I’m thankfully indifferent to such things, and my indifference is rewarded with an 11-song hardcore album that excites me at least twice a day. The entire album hits hard from the first to the last second. The fast parts are great, and the slower ones groove perfectly as well. The vocals are consistently angry and simply perfect in their style. No grunting, no hysterical screaming, just pure shouting, as shouting should sound. Lyrically, it sings against the American government and society, and the booklet includes various web links that show the band is indeed political and so on. The music is well-produced and played by professionals (all former members of various renowned New York hardcore bands). While it doesn’t offer any surprises, it serves the musical hardcore purist very well with its down-tuned guitars. Amazing album! Give it a listen!!
