Here is an interesting release at first glance. A double CD in an unusual format, as two bands share a digipak, namely Smokestack Lightnin' from Germany and the Belgians from The Seatsniffers.
Smokestack Lightnin' represents American roots rock country and is known to the general public for their cover version of "Unknown Stuntman," the theme song of the 80s TV series "The Fall Guy."
Next to them are the Belgians, who bring the same sound, in my opinion, even more beautifully, authentically, and finely.
Over the years and many concerts later, a deep friendship developed between the bands. They toured together, had joint performances, shared accommodation, and played on each other's albums.
The title Roadmasters fits well in this context. Cultivating friendships on the road and paying homage to the scent of the open road and the country cliché.
The tracks consist entirely of cover songs from various sources such as Ronnie Self, Rodney Crowell, Bob Luman, Hank Williams, Charlie Rich, Garth Brooks, and The Cramps, which the musicians play in their respective band-specific style. The more rockabilly-influenced country style of Smokestack Lightnin' contrasts with the rhythm & blues-infused rock & roll style of the Seatsniffers.
In conclusion, it can only be said that the outer presentation is truly successful, a stylish package, nice artwork. Top.
Friends of the above music will have their fun.
