A new record from ROGER MIRET AND THE DISASTERS. Mr. Miret, approaching 50, still can't resist making music and producing it. Generally, there isn't much to say about ROGER MIRET. He should be known to anyone who has even a slight connection to punk rock and hardcore. He has been on the road a lot with his band AGNOSTIC FRONT, but that hasn't stopped him from doing things with the Disasters in his free time. Now the new album is here. The thirteen songs, of which only two are longer than three minutes, are catchy. Thirteen songs that are strongly influenced by street punk and Oi. The band works with high melody and a lot of power. At times, the songs even give a hectic impression in terms of tempo and vocals. Almost as if they are playing against an imaginary clock. Perhaps this impression is also due to ROGER MIRET sometimes struggling to keep up with the vocals. But these are all minor details, as this album has everything you need to have a good time for a short while. Clear songs, clear statements, no frills, just straight to the point. With “Gotta get up now,” they do something that many street punk bands are now lacking: uncompromising tempo, without long intros or rambling. Here you get 100% pure street punk.
The record is short, concise, punchy, and damn good!
It doesn't take many words; for “Gotta get up now,” only one thing applies: buy it and enjoy it. For collectors, there will also be a limited edition in colored vinyl.
