Suddenly, Spanish sounds almost like Finnish?! Some may wonder what this claim is about. Quite simply, the Spaniards "Hateskor" sound like the great role models from the cold zone.
This has become clear since last year, after the band formed around guitarist "Alex Skorza".
The debut album of the melodic death metal band comes with a bombastic production featuring 9 full-speed tracks. And it really blasts out of the speakers.
The high-speed guitar riffing perfectly duels with the sugary keyboard interludes, which are played just as intricately. So it's a very good mix of brutality and melody.
The only downside is a bit the voice of frontman Mc Leod, which doesn't quite match the quality of his bandmates. So much for the craftsmanship of the entire band "Hateskor".
However, the crux lies in the lack of identification. Of course, "Hateskor" can keep up with international giants like Children of Bodom or Wintersun, but over time, one simply wishes for more individuality, which is unfortunately lacking here.
Clearly, "Paint my Fear" is an album with great melodies and driving drumbeats, and some songs sound almost hit-worthy (Mirror's Eye). But a unique touch would have been necessary to truly release something great.
But fans of the mentioned giants are sure to have a great time here.
It's good work, that's for sure!!!!
