Imagine BLINK 182 reducing their power by 5-10%, and you would get YELLOWCARD! My first subjective impression was accordingly sober; I missed that power. However, after multiple listens, I must revise my initial assessment.
Anyone can do a BLINK 182 (almost), but individuality is what YELLOWCARD is all about, and they undoubtedly possess it! With a 15-year existence and 7 albums, the band from Florida has found their style, and the 10 songs from their 8th studio album “Southern Air” please me a little more with each listen...
Their melodic pop-punk songs are, however, more suited for a calm 40 minutes. Perfect for winding down in the evening or a quiet drive, just the right thing, and I will certainly enjoy listening to YELLOWCARD more often in the car.
Unfortunately, I also do not have a booklet here, as I place a lot of value on it (an album without a booklet is like a currywurst without curry for me), so I have to deduct a point, but it’s still 8 points.
