FRO-TEE SLIPS have been following me, just like TAKE SHIT, see yesterday's review, for over 15 years now. While the four musicians from Flensburg could be heard on some compilations back then with their fun punk, nowadays the fun has given way to more serious lyrics, albeit presented in a humorous way. Musically, FRO-TEE SLIPS have also made a significant step forward, but after 23 years of music history, that’s to be expected (except for ZZZ HACKER from Bielefeld, who have been around even longer). Especially in the slower songs, like "Wo die Engel sind", parallels to the ballads of TOTEN HOSEN can be observed. I’m not a big fan of these ballads, which is why I’m glad that the fifth album of the SLIPS continues with punchy melodic punk rock. However, it seems that the songs were recorded together with the songs from the fourth album, "Starschnitt Troopers Vol.1", which was released two years ago. Now I could finally piece together the (BRAVO) starschnitt, but I won’t cut up the good booklet! After 35 minutes, Vol.2 ends with the sung eleventh song "Kasakka", which also serves as the closing point at their concerts.
Conclusion: The album is awesome!!! If only it weren't for that band name. It fits FRO-TEE SLIPS as a fun punk band, but now, 23 years later, more mature, grown-up... But I don’t have to deal with that :)
