RamTatTa - OUT OF ORDER – better days

OUT OF ORDER, there’s hardly a more common (band) name. It all started back in the 90s, in my - younger - years, when there was an Oi punk band in the neighboring community named OUT OF ORDER, as well as one across the small pond (UK) or the big pond (USA/Canada), I can't remember exactly. And those were just the two bands I knew as a "country boy." At first, I thought the album I have here might possibly be from the band across the pond, but that can't be because this band was only formed in 2001 in Halifax [known for the ship explosion nearly 100 years ago with over 2000 (!) dead]. In 2006, the band moved from the Canadian East Coast 800 km further inland to Montreal. However, since they didn’t release anything other than a small demo in 2008, it couldn't have been them that I heard as OUT OF ORDER in the early 2000s. The band really picked up momentum only in 2010 when they recorded their first album "Written On The Walls." It’s a shame that I’ve never heard these OUT OF ORDER songs before. Because if the debut album is as high-quality as the second album "Better Days" that I now have, then I really missed out.
Not that OUT OF ORDER is bringing anything new to humanity; it’s just 11 simple, but damn catchy Oi punk songs that will knock your socks off from the first song "Dog Bite"...
The 5 Canadians really took their time (14 years, indeed), but it was worth it; the 11 songs bite their way through the speaker cables to the speakers (especially loud in the car) and are true Oi punk rock gems, my thumb goes way up.
Top sound, perfect Oi punk tempo including the melodies, and somehow every song sounds like the song material has always been in the back of your mind. I particularly noticed this with the 7th song "Hang up your boots" and thought, thought, thought... of course I know the song... it’s by SLAPSHOT! And the sympathy points keep rising; anyone who covers SLAPSHOT can't be a bad person ;-)
Except for the 3rd song "Bad Reputation" (almost 5 minutes), all songs are 2½ to 3½ minutes long, the right length for a round of pogo.
So now when I hear OUT OF ORDER, I no longer think of the namesakes from the 90s/2000s, no... from now on, there’s only OUT OF ORDER from Canada!
I do have to give one minus point, though; I don’t have a booklet or any lyrics. Even though the singing is mostly slow and very clear, I can't translate that quickly, my English is just too poor, and so I only understand half of the lyrics, which is a shame :-(
