“I am Daniel. I am actually a gangster rapper with Antilopen-Gang.”
This is the very first announcement on the live album by DANGER DAN, which shares the same title as his album “Das ist alles von der Kunstfreiheit gedeckt” released on April 30, 2021 (the review on ramtatta.de can be read here: https://www.ramtatta.de/s/reviews/f/details/id/8904/), only that it has a (Live in Berlin) added at the end.
The album by DANGER DAN “Das ist alles von der Kunstfreiheit gedeckt” was one of the greatest albums of 2021 for me. Not only was I impressed by the album, but many other people were as well. I believe the vinyl version of the album was pressed five or six times. It simply took off.
As is often the case when an album is released, it wants and should be presented live. Especially and particularly due to the long Corona-induced break. DANGER DAN is no exception, and there were many live concerts with the concept:
Old man at the piano (original quote from Danger Dan).
In Berlin, the Admiralspalast was sold out four times in a row. That means four times around 1,400 people in a hall. This was a highlight in his solo career, and it was almost only logical to release a live recording from those evenings.
Let’s see what comes next, as the young man is playing twice this weekend in Berlin's Wuhlheide, one of which is completely sold out. That’s at least 17,000 people (when sold out) per evening. Let’s see what DANGER DAN makes of it.
On the live album, of course, you can hear the previously known songs, but Daniel is not entirely alone. He also has a small string quartet with him. This gives the songs even more depth and evokes even more emotions.
For all those who have been excited about DANGER DAN so far, the album will at least be nodded at favorably and they will surely want to get a copy. This is probably best seen as a “thank you” from him to us.
In addition to his musical qualities, which are undoubtedly not the worst, there are also some stories from his life, including how his former school, the Viktoria-Gymnasium in Aachen, dealt with him. One wonders who is worse, the students in front of the teacher's desk or the people behind it. Daniel tells all of this very entertainingly. It lightens up the set of 16 songs nicely.
DANGER DAN is of course not just a likable piano player who navigates safely in lyrical waters, and it is made clear what is politically and socially wrong. These include sex tourists, but of course also Nazis and conspiracy nuts. Perhaps the large bourgeois middle class will also take notice and think about it...
Fascists never stop being fascists
History has shown that one does not discuss with them
One does not trust the state and police apparatus,
because the domestic intelligence service helped establish the NSU
If this becomes more prevalent in the minds and actions of many people, then the AfD, Reichsbürger, and other complete idiots will have nothing more to say.
Thus, DANGER DAN brings together everything that makes for a lovely evening.
The memory of this remains preserved with this release, and this weekend, surely more will join in Berlin's Wuhlheide.
