I haven’t heard anything from that band from the middle of nowhere (i.e., the Emsland region) PROPAGANDA NETWORK in ages. I once had their first CD, “Parole Parole Parole” from 2007, in my hands, and now it sits somewhere under “P” in my CD rack along with hundreds of other CDs. I think it was pretty nice, but nothing you’d need to remember 17 years later. And I didn’t hear a thing about their second CD, “Antievolution,” which came out two years later.
Now PROPAGANDA NETWORK have released their third album, “Panik.” I have no idea what they’ve been up to in the 15 years in between. But they must have been honing their musical skills, because “Panik” really packs a punch. Ronny’s bass really drives the 14 songs (which, as a bassist myself, I always welcome), Daniel on drums keeps the energy going, and Tim and Franco on guitars give the punk rock sound a nice, broad sound. Klaus perfectly rounds out “Panik” with his direct German-language lyrics, which repeatedly drive the point home with a sharp edge.
And since the lyrics are printed in the booklet, the 38-minute runtime of “Panik” sticks in your mind even better.
There are no weak spots among the 14 songs—just a killer mixed sound. Thumbs up!
And there’s a booklet that actually deserves its name (which is unfortunately a rarity these days).
