In 1989, truly world-changing events occurred.
Not only did the wall fall, but the first edition of the SKA, SKA, SKANDAL series
was released, delighting East and West, South and North with the finest ska from Germany.
In 2024, 35 years after the release of the first part, the seventh edition of SKA, SKA, SKANDAL will be released.
It almost seems anachronistic to release a sampler in this day and age.
At a time when fewer and fewer CDs are sold, and playlists from providers like Spotify are increasingly used instead. However, these providers offer little to smaller bands and even less to small labels. So it would be only consistent to stop this and occasionally get up to change the CD.
It does everyone good, including one's own health, you know, in terms of movement and all.
Speaking of movement.
With the first song, only hardcore stoics can manage to stay still.
The Busters kick things off with “Musica de Fiesta.”
Next up is El Bosso & Die Ping Pongs. A fantastic song, especially because of the lyrics and the band's own humor.
Then we continue with a cover version of the classic “Basket Case” by Green Day in a fluffy, danceable version by Dr. Woggle & Lock Downers.
On the CD, alongside the mentioned bands, you can also find Blechreiz, Dr. Ring Ding, Johnny Reggae Rub Foundation, Bluekilla, No Sports, and Skaos.
What Matzge, the mastermind of the label, has put together here is more than just a selection of raisins. It is a selection of diamonds. Not only does the choice of bands represent the range of German ska bands, but every song on this sampler is previously unreleased, making this sampler an absolute treat for every fan of the bands.
This sampler is perfect for the next weekend by the lake.
And if a ska night is supposed to take place and the DJ gets sick, this sampler will save the evening.
