SKID ROW, a band...an embodiment of a style, not just a musical style but a lifestyle. Is there really more to say than...Hell Yeah!
Now, after a whopping 35 years, SKID ROW has released their first live album!
The band was formed in 1987 in New Jersey and has significantly shaped the heavy metal scene, or rather the hard rock scene, since then.
This live album was recorded in London at the "02 Forum Kentish Town".
While the recordings of almost all the band's albums are already very good, they find their master in this live recording. The band plays absolutely perfectly together, the sound is simply fantastic. The vocals, the driving drums, the bass, and especially the guitar are prominently and powerfully recorded. No instrument is too far forward or too far back. Erik Grönwall's vocals are perfectly showcased, and one must say, with such excellent singing, a mixer can hardly go wrong, and if they do, they should keep their hands off the faders.
At this point, I wish all the best to Erik Grönwall, who has currently stepped back from SKID ROW to fight his battle against leukemia with all his strength.
The sixteen songs on this live album are a wild ride through the history of SKID ROW. Whether it's the opener "Slave to the Grind," which is from the current album and a powerhouse of a song. A great song to open a concert.
Of course, classics like "18 and Life," "Monkey Business," or "I Remember You" can also be heard. Just as newer songs like "Time Bomb" or "Tear it Down".
Additionally, there are all the announcements one expects from rock stars. However, this comes across not as embarrassing but just right.
Yes, we are in a good mood, we are having fun, we sing along, we clap, and damn it, we are having so much fun!
It seems to me that hard rock is slowly having a revival.
What is the reason for that?
It’s the timeless rock songs, the touching melodies, the unbridled power that emanates from this music, and surely everyone who loves the music finds many other good reasons.
It certainly also has to do with the special vocals that many of the bands have with their singers.
Anyone who loves guitars cannot get past hard rock anyway.
In short, a living legend has created a legendary album here!
