Murphy's Law is widely known.
The band “Murphy's Law” is also familiar to some.
But what about the law of lions and the band LION'S LAW?
LION'S LAW is an Oi band from Paris that is releasing their fifth album, “Evermore,” in collaboration with three labels under the umbrella of HFMN Records.
The band makes it clear from the first few seconds of listening that this is not a children's birthday party. There is a sound that immediately reminded me of Toxpack. The guitars, but especially the vocals, strongly remind me of Schulle.
Now, it would be presumptuous to call them a Toxpack clone. The band from Paris has been around for too long for that.
LION'S LAW sings about what moves them. These are topics we know from every major city, especially Berlin, Munich, and Hamburg. It's about the changes happening around us, about gentrification and everything that comes with it. Paris is no different from many other cities. The band sings about their hometown in the song of the same name. It's about solidarity. It's about honesty. It's about standing up for oneself, staying true to oneself without falling into a kind of grumpy resignation. It's about life and what we make of it.
These are certainly not new topics for this kind of music. I would even say that Oi would be quite bloodless without these themes.
However, LION'S LAW also reflects on the here and now and sees little hope there. We will go extinct, but please do so with style and fun, as they express in the song “Extinction.” Is that controversial?
Yes!
Should we always complain and bite the dust with a bad mood?
No!
The sound and especially the vocals strongly remind me of Toxpack, and that's certainly not a bad reference.
Anyone who likes Toxpack will also find something to appreciate in LION'S LAW.
LION'S LAW, from the street, for the street...
