DEATH BY HORSE released their album “Reality hits hard“ in 2019 through the label Twisted Chords, a label known for interesting music. That’s exactly what DEATH BY HORSE offered on this album, and they certainly made a good impression.

Now, the new album is being released on the label Sunny Bastards, which is known for a good selection of Oi and punk.
Six years have passed since the release of the last album. That’s a long time for a band, especially when they name their new album “Liminal State“, which describes a kind of in-between state or a transition from one phase, place, or reality to another.
Song titles like “Running in Circles“, “I can feel later“ or “Take a look (it’s not me, it’s you)“ indicate that things will get profound here.
The band processes an emotional rollercoaster on this album, driven by the death of family members, existential questions, and the facade, the mask that we all wear every day.
Compared to the previous album, the sound has changed somewhat. It has become a bit more mature, or to avoid sounding too pretentious, the band has found their sound. The occasional hecticness in the tracks of the predecessor album has given way to a powerful aggression. The songs still push forward, but the melodies and the songwriting give a more refined impression. Additionally, the album is a lot of fun. It goes massively forward at times. Pogo, mosh parts, circle pit moments, it’s all included. There are parts to sing along to, followed by powerful jumping around.
Vocalist Jannah Lund gives her all with her voice again, but she doesn’t scream as much anymore; instead, she knows how to handle her anger and the power of her voice better.
“Liminal State“ is a successful album that will surely take DEATH BY HORSE further forward. The forward means bigger stages and more fans. The Swedes have more than earned it.
