Seven years is enough.
Let's talk about how we are doing and how we feel.
Let's listen to the fourth album by GRADE2.
The band, founded by Jack, Sid, and Jacob, somehow managed to catch the attention of Tim Armstrong. Tim was so impressed by the three guys from the Isle of Wight that he signed them to his label Hellcat Records. The rest is history, as they say.
With “Talk about it“, GRADE2 is releasing their fourth album.
GRADE2 has played a lot with Oi bands, such as Booze & Glory, and has consistently received enthusiasm. So it’s not surprising that they are on a headliner tour from late April to mid-May. What’s more interesting is that they are playing in venues that are not necessarily at the top of the list for other punk bands, like in Berlin. This also means that GRADE2 has fans beyond the punk scene.
The eleven songs on “Talk about it“ are bursting with energy. They maintain this energy even after multiple listens. A big shout-out goes to the studio and the mastering for this. This is exactly the energy I want to hear!
GRADE2 uses “Talk about it“ as an opportunity to talk about themselves.
These are personal experiences that led to the song “Hanging onto you“. It features very honest lyrics, full of love and self-reflection. I haven’t heard a song like this in a long time. When things just can’t go on anymore, it’s good to draw a line, as sung in “Better today“. Here too, the lyrics come across as very personal and credible.
“Cut Throat“ describes the feeling of simply not being able to perform enough, despairing over it, and breaking down under the system we live in.
There are hardly any light and superficial lyrics that GRADE2 has set to music here. However, they have managed to pack heavy topics into energetic songs, each of which can present exciting melodies.
GRADE2 has further developed their style, streetpunk of the English school with a hefty dose of Oi and massive energy, to say the least, perfected it. The result is TALK ABOUT IT.
An album that the world has been waiting for!
