The Ashes of Creation are Pop Noir, as they describe themselves on their very nicely designed homepage. Describing the music is akin to madness. Here, seven musicians come together to enchant and blend Prog, Rock, Pop, Folk, and Wave with a lot of warmth. The most astonishing aspect is largely the vocals, which are delivered in a convincing three-part harmony. At times, there’s a dreamy Garbage sound, and in the next riff, there’s a different tone and a melody that is also quite different, yet still rocks! A total of 13 fantastic songs from Capitol East Road Records, who are also responsible for the band Felix Culpa, are presented in this release. What I really like is the photorealistic artwork; finally, someone has put thought into how a CD inlay should look. Visually and content-wise, 100 points! My listening recommendations are track 2 'A Closer Draw' and track 5 'Walk'. Amazing music that I absolutely have to experience live!
