MY DEFENSE was founded in 2004 in Cologne, and some of the band members were apparently involved with OFFSIDE, who were already touring with PENNYWISE and LAGWAGON in the 90s. Now regarding their release, one can certainly say: "Hats off!" The tracks come across offensively with melody and enough anger and power in the vocals, occasionally supported by very well-sounding backing vocals. Everything just fits here, and my butt swings nicely to the rhythm, as is desired for a well-executed recording. Not always as fast as 7SECONDS, but close to GORILLA BISCUITS and the fabulous KURHAUS from Hamburg. But what do I discover? Only 5 songs? Man, you get well served musically and then so little of it? Live, the band follows the same path and rocks the crowd well, as recently seen at the KÖLN KOTZT Festival (see pictures) under the bridge on June 23, 2006. The lyrics, as far as I can understand them, mostly revolve around dreams and personal matters. All in all, the 5 pieces are packaged superbly and cannot be quickly categorized, as they know how to close this nicely! Bravo and more of that!
