There are records that you look forward to. After the new NO SHAME album landed in my mailbox the other day, the record has been playing non-stop. ....and just when you’re excited and not disappointed. NO SHAME comes from Finland and has been touring Europe for some time now. In their home country, the guys have already gained a high level of recognition and popularity and should make even further strides with this album.
In 32 minutes, there are 11 bangers, exclusively hits. Each track stands on its own, ultimately showcasing a common thread. Musically, it’s simply NO SHAME, and any comparison will fall short. For those who still want a comparison (even though I’m not really into that....!!) - imagine ANTI FLAG distilled to the essentials, perhaps with the occasional intro reminiscent of SOCIAL DISTORTION or slight West Coast influences....if it weren’t for the awesome harder tracks, a lot of punk, a hefty pinch of hardcore, and who knows what else. But in the end, it’s NO SHAME - no box to fit in. A fantastic round thing.
The artwork also impresses, quite dark but cool - and painted by singer Sampsa.
A great record that you like to turn up when you have guests over.
Anyone wanting to be convinced live should check out their homepage (http://noshame.kuori.org/), as the guys will be touring Germany from May 11 to 20.
