As a little kid, I not only found all the Bud Spencer and Terence Hill movies brilliant, but I also thought the opening songs were fantastic. So back then, I always held the cassette recorder up to the TV speaker and awkwardly mixed a sampler that way. Eventually, a soundtrack was released that gathered the music from the films, which I promptly bought. And even this soundtrack had the same flaw as all the subsequent ones and this tribute sampler here. They didn't just stick to the opening songs; they also included the music that played somewhere in the films, which I couldn't care less about. I just want to finally hold a soundtrack in my hands that exclusively features all the opening titles! And I had hoped that by purchasing this tribute sampler, I could fulfill that wish, with the cherry on top being that everything was nicely punctuated. But well... a wish remains a wish. This sampler pays tribute to the heroes of some childhoods. For the idea, I would give ten points! Unfortunately, the execution brings the result down quite a bit. Sunny Bastards has gathered 21 bands here, either covering the opening titles, dedicating themselves to the other film music, or writing their own songs in which they celebrate Bud Spencer and Terence Hill. The music style ranges from punk, psychobilly, ska, and reggae to a bit of country. Naturally, I prefer the bands that dared to tackle the opening songs. However, even in these cases, there are one or two misfires, as the nostalgia feeling was twisted by their own German lyrics. Of the twelve songs of this kind, I find five successful, five okay, and two really bad. And the other songs don't really interest me. That said, it must be noted that some of the self-composed songs are somewhat listenable. Unfortunately, there are also one or two bands that should probably get a bit better on their instruments or maybe find a more capable singer. You can hear that some bands were overwhelmed by the original. As I said, for the idea, it should be ten points, but since the listening pleasure is to be evaluated here, unfortunately, it only gets 5.
