The Deutschpunk Gewitter sampler comes from the Nix Gut label and was compiled by Einhorn from Atemnot and Kalte Krieger. In the second edition of the series, what is offered is what one expects: Deutschpunk with the usual political and critical themes. 21 bands each contribute one song. It is noteworthy that the bands predominantly come from the eastern part of the country (which I don't really care about) and that there are above-average songs that critically engage with their own (punk) scene (which I appreciate). This is evident in the songs by Die Bockwurschtbude, Die Strohsäcke, Hausvabot, and Gleichlaufschwankung. Musically, the entire sampler is quite solid, featuring a few above-average songs, but overall there are just as few standout tracks at the top as there are at the bottom. I would like to highlight the contributions from Hausvabot, OXO 86, Die Bockwurschtbude, Gumbles, Soko Durst, and the Klabusterbären. Musically, I am also convinced by Der Schwarze Kanal, but I have some issues with their lyrics, which simplify the fascist problem in the east a bit too much as a fruit of DDR politics. I find the bands Gleichlaufschwankung and Träsh Torten Combo annoying, which is also - but by no means only - related to the recording quality. Oh yes, my absolute "favorite singer" since a Ramtatta review is also included, Wehrlos with "Bierpolitik". Towards the end of the sampler, the quality unfortunately drops a bit overall. However, the layout in digipak form is convincing, and each band is given a complete booklet page including lyrics, a short band info, photos, and contact options. For this reason and because of the stronger songs, I give it a 6 instead of a 5.
