Not only was I sent to this beautiful world in 1977. No, SHAM 69 also released their debut single "I don`t wanna" in the same year. A year later, their debut LP "Tell us the truth" followed, which today should not be missing from any well-stocked punk shelf. 30 years later, the British punk icons are making a striking comeback with "Western Culture". Only guitarist Dave Parsons remains from the original lineup. However, this suits the album very well. Of course, no musical masterpieces are offered here, but who would want to hear such a thing from SHAM 69? Rather, it is the energy of the band that is to be appreciated. There is no room for tension and play here. Short and punchy, just as punk sounded in 1977, each song is fired off. Fist up, and anyone who still believes: "Punk's not dead" - is absolutely right!!!
