The Urban Rejects from the deepest England… uh, just kidding, they are from Aachen, but you wouldn't guess that at all while listening to one of my new favorite records of late. This is how OiPunk should sound. Great melodies and a roaring vocal performance that fits like a glove. There’s absolutely no trace of a German accent, and when the choruses kick in, you can’t help but reference English Oi. With "Welcome to Reality," the guys have created an absolutely successful album that has no weak spots. Musically, it’s classic Oi with consistently convincing choruses and solid melodies. Lyrically, there’s a broadside against know-it-alls, against blind faith in politics (Gangs and Politics), and living by other people's rules. Of course, there are also typical Skinhead themes, like the outsider role and solidarity, but everything is delivered brilliantly and expressed succinctly. Combined with the good music, this results in an exceptional album of Oi from Germany. Recommended tracks are definitely "Urban Voice," "Welcome to Reality," “I will not regret,” and the 4-Skins cover "One Law for them." The whole thing was released by Sunny Bastards in CD format, and you can also get the good piece on vinyl from Randale Records . Distribution is handled by Broken Silence. Anyone who enjoys good Oi should definitely grab this; I, for one, will be getting it again as an LP.
