It is said that Brian Eppstein simply slipped a £10 note into the album cover to win over the press people; others, on the other hand, try to convince the editors of the potential of their output by placing ads. Now, I gladly admit that I, of course, can also be bought, but as a convinced Eurozone resident, I reject the island currency; and I wouldn't do it for less than a full-page ad anyway. My colleagues at Trust have always suspected this, and now it's time to admit it openly. However, around Christmas, I always become quite modest; it suffices for me if someone simply sends me a record that breaks listening habits, is free of clichés, and has something that I would really like to call new... in short: it’s enough to just send me a good record. Like the new WE INSIST. The band grooves with precise timing, the singing drummer has so many vocal nuances that one might believe there’s always a different person at the mic, and the sax guys add that touch of strangeness to the songs that is needed to make one sit up and take notice. And when looking for references, one could mention Tool or Shellac just as easily as The Kills or Chokebore. Now the proof remains that the band is indeed this incredible live monster—I have no doubt. (Exile On Mainstream Records)
