RamTatTa - CHTHONIC – Pandemonium

Unfortunately, I was not present in Cologne on December 8, 2007, so I couldn't catch the Taiwanese death metal gem Chthonic at the Underground. The album Pandemonium by the band, which has been around for ten years now, brings together almost essential tracks from their work, some of which have been newly recorded. It's essentially a showcase of the band. Musically, it's quite a spherical affair, primarily created through the instrumental combination of oriental violin, keyboard, and female background vocals. The violin and its phrasing give it a very melancholic feel; anyone who has heard oriental instruments and the style of melody typical of Indian flutes and similar knows what I mean. But it rocks hard and makes you crave more.
A little something about the CD: It comes in a really beautiful packaging with postcards featuring the individual band members and some other extras. Records like this are the reason why people buy CDs; here, collectors get undeniable added value. Very nice! And hopefully, they'll be live in Germany again soon!
