Electroclash from Stockholm. MY LITTLE GERMAN, which previously started as a duo with Maria "Mia" Johansson and Patrik Boman, now presents themselves after three years with their third album featuring two additions, namely Max Groundstroem (also of HOLIDAY FUN CLUB) and Topi The Kat, who are already active with SONS OF CYRUS. ++++ With a brief excursion into the clarification of the term Electroclash, it should quickly be explained what listeners can expect from this album. Here, electronic and rock elements of punk and (new) wave from the 70s and 80s meet with electro. And what has come out is exactly that. An absolutely great thing made up of hard drumbeats, various electronic playfulness, and partly rough, distorted (punk) guitars, which receive the final touch through the alternating and duo vocals of Mia and Patrik. Quirky with punk attitude like in "light" or monotonous, dragging, and carrying like in "rip and tear." ++++ This is definitely a release that is worth being played multiple times before forming an opinion. The variety in the tracks reveals new small and large things to discover time and again. ++++ The combination of punk and electro works really well here – if you imagine the electronic elements removed, the music fits wonderfully into a grimy London underground club in the late seventies; with the punk elements switched off, this album delivers unworthy discussion electro music; and with the drama taken out, it remains fine indie (electro) sound. Bollock Brothers, The Teenagers, Metronomy, Zoot Women, Velvet Underground – throw them all in a bag. ++++ Everything here is somehow quirky. From the music to the cover, which looks like a failed DIY project and debut, and the booklet, which in its twisted simplicity offers a wonderful contrast to the music, but could not have turned out any other way. ++++ New wave dance punk sound of the extra class! – Also available on vinyl.
