“Are you ready for this song? So you can sing along!” – this is the reception of THE ADICTS on their new work “Life Goes On”. “Are you ready for the entire album….?”, should have been the better phrasing here. And just like that, I’m right in the middle of it. ++++ After more than three decades of band history, the gentlemen in white suits are back in their original lineup. This is certainly remarkable, and therefore it is also not surprising that you can find exactly what THE ADICTS have been doing for the last 30 years. Sing-alongs as long as the ears can hear. It’s incredible how they manage to create an entire album filled with nanananana- and yeah-yeah-yeah choruses and passages, and whatever else can be used for singalongs. This becomes even clearer with “Reaky Deaky Boys & Girls”. It could have been a huge song, but instead, it leaves a feeling of question marks and secondhand embarrassment. ++++ This is consistent, almost conservative (if the translation “traditional” is used), definitely too much for me. At least concert-goers can “sing” and shout along even with 3.5 promille and will surely be deeply satisfied on their way home. ++++ The Clockwork Punks were never at the top of my list. And for this reason, I gave them another chance with the new album. It didn’t work out. ++++ Nevertheless, I have great respect for the achievements of the band, which has built a huge fanbase over the many years and has remained true to their thing, their sound. THE ADICTS fan will surely be jumping for joy and will love this album. It’s kind of like with AC/DC and Motörhead, only that I enjoy the seamless transitions from album to album there.
