HEARTBREAK STEREO are still fresh in my memory. In 2009, I saw this band from Finland, more specifically from Turku, rock the Wild at Heart in Berlin-Kreuzberg. It was impressive, and since I didn't know the band until then, I decided to remember them from that moment on.
Now the boys' second album is out. It features 13 songs in just over 33 minutes. That sounds fast. And it is fast, but not only that. HEARTBREAK STEREO deliver a fine slab of Rock'n'Roll Punk here, seasoned with catchy singalongs and refined melodies. The voice of singer Antte has the necessary power to sing against the bass, drums, and guitar, and is just as rough and gritty as one would expect from a good band in this genre.
The songs always push forward, sometimes gritty, sometimes cleaner, but always with that aura that comes from a dark and sweaty basement club. This is honest punk as it should be.
The band can certainly be compared to Rancid or similar calibers. However, they have their own style that allows them to stand out positively from the multitude of Rock'n'Roll Punk bands.
With “Carried through this waltz,” there are 13 melodic Rock'n'Roll Punk songs in good production that really kick you in the ass.
