First, the band personally reached out to me, which I thought was great, and when the CD arrived, I was once again amazed. A really nice CD with everything that comes with it. You don't come across that every day. The label behind it is SPV / Steamhammer, which surprised me since SPV has supposedly gone under (or so they say).
So now it continues with a new name and hopefully the same team.
The first signing is ENGRAINED from near Hanover. The band has been around since the early '90s, which is evident in their sound. The five songs on this EP sound like really cool old-school ass-kicking rock 'n' roll. Comparisons to Motörhead are certainly possible, but also to other hard rock bands from that decade.
The five songs are overall well produced and rock the butt quite nicely.
ENGRAINED aren't reinventing the wheel, but they make a solid impression on “Anger, Roots and Rock´n´Roll“. One wonders if the band took so long to capture this sound on CD or if we are witnessing a band that wants to jump on the “rock 'n' roll punk train”? In any case, they are not the worst.
