Look at that, look at that. MCRACKINS from Vancouver honor me with their first album, and that after 18 years of their existence.
18 years is a lot of years for a band that has made catchy pop-punk their mission. 18 years, and the half-life of many bands has already been exceeded, especially for bands that play fresh and young pop-punk.
Not so with MCRACKINS. “It ain´t over easy“ sounds anything but old. The album sounds fresh, the songs are unspoiled, and the vocals come across as catchy as one could wish for from a band in this genre. The melodies come through with the pressure of punk, making the songs quite enjoyable. Of course, you’ve probably heard these melodies somewhere before, but MCRACKINS don’t care. They play what they feel like, and it comes across well. This trio from Canada has a particularly great knack for melodies.
If you like this kind of music and, for example, also enjoy NOFX, you should definitely check out this band from Canada. It’s nice, it’s fun, but of course, it’s not necessarily suitable for the hardcore street punk that demands political and socially critical lyrics filled with hate. MCRACKINS don’t deliver that; they are more the ones who laugh and grin their way through. Although a positive vibe isn’t necessarily a bad thing.
