A fresh label sampler from Wolverine Records in Düsseldorf has arrived.

Label samplers can often be a mixed bag. Usually, you know the bands, and there are no songs on the samplers that you don't already have somewhere in your collection, and you still have to spend money on it. Or there are many bands on the samplers that you don't like at all.

Not so with “Saints and Sinners”!!

While there are no unreleased songs or other rarities to be found here, the mix of bands on this sampler makes the CD with 21 songs a fine mixtape. Wolverine Records presents bands like STRAWBERRY BLONDES, OUT OF LUCK, PIPES AND PINTS, RIPMEN, HYBRID CHILDREN, and THE BOOZE BROTHERS. These are all not unknown bands. The focus of this sampler is clearly on punk rock, punk'n'roll, psychobilly, and rockabilly. Anyone who can appreciate these four genres will have a lot of fun with “Saints and Sinners.”

The only miss is HELLDRIVER, but the other 20 songs are absolutely fine.

“Saints and Sinners” is thus more than just a label sampler; it is rather a cross-section of the scenes and their bands, and these are damn good.

Let's hope that the next label sampler will be just as good and that Wolverine Records will continue to have their knack for good bands.
