FRENZY from the UK, a cult band of Psychobilly and Neo-Rockabilly. A band from the first wave of founding Psychobilly bands in the '80s, at a time when no one really knew what Psychobilly was or was supposed to be.
Three years ago, they released their last album. A long time, but now the band is back with “In the Blood.”
Not much has changed in FRENZY's style, and that doesn't have to be the case.
The 10 songs on the album are excellently recorded. The band's rather classic sound comes across wonderfully. Right from the first song, it’s clear that the band still has a knack for melodies and the spirit of Psychobilly.
However, FRENZY is also open to other styles. They demonstrate this already with the second song on the album, “Hero.” Here, country and almost pop-rock/hard rock influences come through the speakers. Sounds strange? But it isn't. It sounds great, and it moves forward. You immediately want to dive into the Wrecking Pit.
Song number three is almost classic Rockabilly.
Overall, the album is very diverse and truly excellent.
Surely, the scene police of Psychobilly and Rockabilly will have something to complain about, but seriously. Why should a band like FRENZY let that influence them?
FRENZY has achieved a lot in their career, and with this album, they cement their status. FRENZY still belongs to the greats of Psychobilly!
