Hardly have I reviewed the current album of the Berlin-based Deathcore / Metalcore band PLACENTA, and already the next release from the combo sees the light of day.
The EP is titled “Brutalis,” which is truly fitting.
The five from the capital have not softened compared to their album “Fixed Action Pattern.” I would even say that they have stepped up a notch in terms of heaviness, atmosphere, and technique.
The songs all exude a dark, ominous apocalyptic atmosphere that immediately captivates me. The breaks, tempo changes, and unusual twists and samples of the songs, combined with the shrill screeching of one and the evil hardcore growling of the other shouter, make each song a little inferno.
PLACENTA is not for the faint-hearted or for those who think that Deathcore / Metalcore must only be hard and fast. PLACENTA is evil, and PLACENTA is miles better than many bands in this genre. They have found their own style. They give their songs atmosphere, and the technique that the band possesses is something that is hard to replicate.
PLACENTA will be playing not only a tour but also some individual concerts where they will surely pummel songs from the new EP into the pit.
