JAMIE CLARKE´S PERFECT, doesn’t that sound like a delicious cocktail that packs a punch?
And indeed, what is found on this CD-EP with its five tracks is truly a cocktail, full of strong alcohol with an intoxicating effect that is addictive.
Behind the band name primarily stands Jamie Clarke, 46 years old, former band member of the folk legend The Pogues. Since 1997, he has been roaming the stages of Europe with his own band.
Despite his age, most musicians tend to think about quitting rather than going on tour, Jamie Clarke and his band play more than 100 concerts a year. That’s a remarkable number of gigs, especially considering that this EP is the band’s first official release.
JAMIE CLARKE´S PERFECT play… let’s call it Folk-A-Billy. That fits best, even though today every band wants to play some kind of …A-Billy.
The sound is heavily influenced by folk, but has the drive of punk rock and the catchy melodies of Billy in general, and rockabilly or hillbilly in particular. Added to this is Jamie Clarke’s rough voice, which gives the songs their own aura, their own appearance.
With this EP, the band showcases the experience and class they have gained over the years. The sound is perfect for the dark, smoky pubs of this world (as long as the non-smoking law hasn’t already sterilized them).
Anyone who likes The Pogues or folk(-punk) cannot overlook the Englishmen of JAMIE CLARKE´S PERFECT.
