NEW BORN HATE come from Heidelberg and make…
No, not the student sound like Sportfreunde Stiller or Die Sterne. First of all, their name is inappropriate for the sound, and secondly, the band is more into the heavy metal sound of recent days.
On their debut album, the six guys from Heidelberg blast 10 songs that may not break genre boundaries, but at least expand them.
The boys play a groovy mix of death metal, thrash metal, and especially hardcore. The metal elements are deliberately used in the songs to increase pressure and emphasize the sound. The vocals are often a gurgling, angry roar reminiscent of a bad-tempered monster. This monster is met by singer Maik with relatively clear vocals. It's nice to have two people in the band who can really do something with their voices.
Nevertheless, the song structures are mostly aligned with hardcore, and the mosh parts are just as audible as the heavy parts needed for a proper circle pit.
Songs like “Facing the Demon” move a bit away from hardcore and find themselves more in the metal realm.
It is worth noting that NEW BORN HATE neither belong to the typical metalcore scene nor to hardcore or thrash metal or death metal. This makes the album quite interesting, but it is also not entirely easy to listen to. Time and again, you find yourself wondering why the melody takes this or that turn or why a break stops the flow.
Musically, it's not bad, but it's more for aspiring sound purists and not for narrow-minded scene enthusiasts.
