They are tireless, that much can be said about the Canadians of THE CREEPSHOW. The band has been around for five years, and during that time, they have not only been on tour more than at home, but they also managed to record their new album “They all fall down“. I hope the title is not self-referential; that would be a real shame. Did I mention that the singer Sarah Sin has also been pursuing solo paths and recently released her second album? That’s what you call a workaholic, or obsession, or simply a crazy bunch that has found their way of life.
With “They all fall down“, the band shows that they have not stood still, although they have mostly retained their style. There is still, and hopefully will be for a long time to come, captivating, fast, and very melodic Psychobilly-Punk’n’Roll-Horrorpunk. Their Billy roots are still very prominently displayed, especially in the fast songs when the double bass wildly sets the beat with the drums. That’s fun!
In the middle of the album comes “Sleep Tight“, probably the slowest track the band has ever written. A wonderful little ballad that will sweeten the night for any toddler. Today's children are tomorrow's undead. Horror in all its facets is once again extensively addressed on this album.
The biggest difference from the predecessor album “Run for your Life“, which in my opinion is the best album the band has released so far, is the subdued keyboard. In some songs, it is hardly audible or only contributes a few samples. As a result, the sound is more rooted in melodic punk rock or melodic Billy. Whether that is better or worse, however, everyone must decide for themselves. It is not a major flaw, though.
With “They all fall down“, THE CREEPSHOW has launched a great album that offers fans everything they expect, and surely won’t diminish the fanbase. THE CREEPSHOW delivers eleven songs here that really shake the zombie skin. Hell Yeah!
