The SPERMBIRDS have released a new album!!
After 6 years, this is the band's first new output!
The fact that the band still exists is probably due to their shared love for music and mutual understanding, and certainly also because the circumstances haven't improved. Once a musician, always a musician. Once anti, always anti?!
It's five minutes past twelve, as indicated by the clock on the cover of “A Columbus Feeling,” and this is certainly the assessment of many people who are receiving less and less of the wealth and prosperity promised to us by the media and government.
If we don't count the break during which the band was more or less inactive, they have been around for 27 years. That's hard to surpass for a German band, at least not from the punk scene.
The current lineup is the same as the one that formed the band in 1983, except for the new guitarist Steve Wiles.
To (perhaps) alleviate the main concern of many fans, the sound has not changed.
The band is still 100% SPERMBIRDS. Perhaps even more so.
The sound is still rooted in '80s hardcore and hardcore punk, and it remains aggressive. It drives forward. One could say not much has changed, which is certainly true on one hand, but in terms of melodies, I would say the band has developed them even better, making the songs catchier. However, this does not mean that the band has polished their raw sound. It is still the sound, the anger, and the energy for which the band is loved and which continues to bring them new fans.
That the band can still perform live is demonstrated by their upcoming tour with YOUTH OF TODAY through Europe, starting in 12 days. It's a must to go and lose your mind! Who knows when these gentlemen will get back into a tour bus and scream their anger through the halls.
