So … let’s be clear: I absolutely cannot stand Best of/ Greatest Hits albums, for the simple reason that every released album by a band should be a “Best of,” and I don’t want to release an album after a certain time that features my supposedly “best” tracks; rather, every record should be good enough that this is not necessary.
This attitude hasn’t changed with the 28-song strong album by The Casualties, which was released under the title “For The Casualties Army” and is only available for purchase online (8.99 bucks). After 8 albums, it’s supposed to be a Best of, featuring tracks from “Die Hards,” “On The Front Line,” “Under Attack,” “We Are All We Have,” “Made in NYC,” and a track from the Spanish album “En La Linea Del Frente.”
Sure, the tracks are still damn great, even after the 100th listen, but somehow no one really needs a Best of.
I think, as is often the case with such albums, it’s only for people who haven’t really engaged with The Casualties yet and want to get a good overview of the band’s work from the years between 2001 and 2009.
Otherwise, it’s a good introduction to the upcoming tour this year and, in my opinion, the only reason for this release.
