And again something from STF-Records in Mülverstedt. The label has released several publications towards the end of 2010, including the debut album of the band GINGER RED.
The cover already makes me dread the worst. Too artificial, too much '80s cold rock, and when I see the band photo, four middle-class men are looking back at me, of whom at most one gives the impression that rock is his life. The others look like the average people next door. Uninteresting and not particularly important.
Maybe the guys can at least make music, if they don't understand much about the other stuff.
Music does indeed come out of the speakers. There are 10 songs plus an intro. The first song is called “Odins Hall” and makes me think of some pagan metal bands, but far from it. Here we have classic hard rock/rock. The song “Odins Hall” sounds quite decent, but it doesn't match the title. One expects something evil, and what comes out of the speakers is only a little bit evil. Actually, they are quite nice, aren't they?
Yes, nice and smoothly produced, that is GINGER RED! The subsequent songs become increasingly flat and sometimes remind me of the Scorpions and sometimes of the soundtrack of bad '80s movies. Insignificant and uninteresting. Lyrically, it’s not any better, although there are no complete failures overall.
GINGER RED is really only for fans of commercial '80s hard rock. GINGER RED musically lives between Samantha Fox, soft rock, beach buggies, and terrible hairstyles. Anyone who finds this creepy should steer clear of the band.
