"This is the sound of the street, for your life path," once sang a band from Rügen. Even though they come from a slightly different musical corner, I borrowed the lyrics, as they fit perfectly for this sampler CD from KB - Records.

This is the fourth part of the sampler series, and it provides the soundtrack of the street for today's street kids.

As expected from the label, there is a solid dose of Oi, streetpunk, and streetcore here. Most of the bands are (former) label bands, which isn't a bad thing, because even though KB - Records has a few strange bands under its wing, it also has some really good bands signed.

The list of bands reads like the German Who's Who of the bands associated with these music styles, who actually still know what it means to come from the bottom, and not just sing about it in a watered-down way.

For example, there are the great SOIFASS from Berlin, who get to open this record, and they do so with their fantastic intro from perhaps Germany's best and most controversial actor, Klaus Kinski. Of course, the KRAWALLBRÜDER must not be missing. Highlights also include THE BUSINESS, TOXPACK, SPLIT IMAGE, and GEWOHNHEITSTRINKER. In this company, bands like MARTENS ARMY or BIERTRAS can also be tolerated.

The soundtrack is indeed a really good compilation of well-known and lesser-known bands with well-known and lesser-known songs. The mix makes it, so you can confidently grab this, turn the knobs to the right at home, and have a great time with your buddies. Of course, the music is even more fun at festivals, amidst beer, grilling, and sunburn. So if you need a soundtrack, feel free to grab this one.
