As a Berliner, I can say that these statements are true and yet the beginning of the downfall. Everyone wants something, few give anything, and so it becomes increasingly difficult for bands and artists to find suitable spaces and opportunities to develop year after year.
SAMAVAYO come from Berlin. They have been making music for 10 years and have played over 350 concerts during this time. A band that knows Berlin, and Berlin should know the band as well. Now, I am not an entire city, but I had not heard of the band until now.
That is changing now, as I am now listening to “Cosmic Knockout,” their latest work and the third album in the band's history.
SAMAVAYO means something like “coming together.” With this band, many styles actually come together. Clearly identifiable are Alternative Rock, Metal, psychedelic rock, and influences from Tool. In short, sophisticated rock.
The band's sound wants to be discovered, but it also wants to awaken the imagination and let thoughts drift freely. It is a sound that is great for relaxing and dreaming, but not for falling asleep. “Cosmic Knockout” is far too precious for that.
SAMAVAYO combine the old psychedelic rock sound of the '70s with the spirit and musical standing of the present time.
SAMAVAYO have created something mature and sophisticated, not to say a work made by music lovers for music lovers. For the sixteen songs, one must take time, as mentioned, and if one does, they will be rewarded with an all-encompassing rock cocoon.
Different from much and better than many, that is “Cosmic Knockout”!
