The label SN-PUNX from Schwerin gives not only well-known bands but also unknown and newcomer bands a chance. FAHRENHEIT from Magdeburg has taken advantage of this opportunity. The band officially formed in 2010. However, the guys were already musically active before that; they only decided to release the songs they had written in 2010, after the departure of the old singer. Thus, the songs make a solid impression for a reason.
The album “Sick World” with nine songs is therefore the debut of the Magdeburg band.
The band generally tends more towards Oi-Punk, although influences from Deutschrock can also be recognized. The songs are mid-tempo, which can be easily understood upon first listen, and thanks to a solid recording and the experienced playing of the band, they come across very well for a debut.
However, upon multiple listens, more and more points come to mind as to why the band cannot maintain the initial good impression. Over the full length of the album, FAHRENHEIT fails to excite. While the combo strives for variety in their songs, they remain too trapped in their own cosmos. What they do is not bad, but in the long run, it is indeed too similar.
The lyrics, choruses, and chords also occasionally remind one of well-known bands.
Johnnie Rook from Berlin comes to mind spontaneously. The song “Through the Night” heavily reminds one of the Berlin band. The second song “Like You & Me” evokes memories of Broilers. “Welcome to Germany” then immediately brings to mind several bands, including Fahnenflucht, which are very present. Without quoting every band that comes to mind, it is noticeable that FAHRENHEIT, perhaps even unconsciously, does a lot to remind listeners of other bands, thus simplifying access to the sound and style of the band.
Acceptable for a debut.
