CD Review - In the Event of Fire " Black Doves rise"
Every little creature has its... whatever, those are just everyday phrases. At first, I would like to address the genre description. It is always amusing how many types of "Core" there are.
Now we have the artistic expression "Artcore," whatever that may be. Primarily, we have a band here that cannot agree on what type of music should be practiced.
According to the press info, there is an emotional touch characterized by some nicely arranged screams. There are supposed to be punk rock riffs, which I am currently still searching for. All in all, it’s a mixed bag without a real identification to a genre, but rather in search of commercial success.
In total, there are 8 songs waiting to be played on the radio. That’s how the production sounds, slick and completely overproduced. Of course, there are always attempts that do hit hard. Like in "My Pompeii," which really thumps reasonably well through the speakers. But personally, I find it too mainstream and lacking in guts. The voice also fails to break free from the clichés of the current screamo-emo softie trend.
Sorry guys, this is something for the short-term market of the music industry, but nothing to really stand out. Therefore, I don’t want to argue further before it gets completely torn apart.
