Dear Knorkators,
This is your "new" work "Let There Be No". And I have to agree with you, it is nothing! As a former Fennklupp member and long-time friend of your art, I am truly disappointed with this album, but let's start from the beginning:
"You Not": As the first single release, or rather video, the song promises a lot, and the mentioned video (feat. Till Lindemann) is charming as usual. It makes you want more, but the second track "Nö" doesn't go beyond a smile that you feel the first time you hear it, which is a pity. Also, "Arschgesicht" has its highs as a song, and it is here that it becomes two-edged for me: It's actually a nice song, BUT 1. I want music that I like to turn up loud, which you can easily do here, if it weren't sung by Alf's son, and 2. who else should have sung it, because the lyrics are quite childish. It somehow reminds me of a KIKA song competition. What worked with "Kinderlied" (also represented here, but more on that later) because the lyrics were really beautiful and different, only works to a limited extent here. Next comes "You Are to Blame", which represents a rather mediocre Knorkator song, and "Why". And that's where the repetitions start, "Why" was, albeit in a similar version, already on the B-side of "Kinderlied", and more than a B-side the song won't be with "real" drums and bass either. "Refräng" is already known from concerts and YouTube videos. Here too, the joke is already told after the first listen, and as Stumpen rightly sings, "Why another verse 2 now? The gag is actually already over." It doesn't get funnier the second time around either. Let's skip the two inconsequential cover versions (the latter we already know from the Scooter Tribute Album from 2009) and come to the already mentioned "Kinderlied", which was touted back then (2008) as the "last song" before the breakup, so again just reheated porridge. "Stay Still" also lives up to its name and presents, just like "On the Lake", unfortunately again modern 80s sound and also reminds of Schlager-metal like In Extremo, Schelmish, Schandmaul or whatever all the nerd bands are called. Laaaaaaaaaaame!
I want Knorkator to rock and for people to be able to enjoy the truly unusual lyrical ideas. Unfortunately, that's not the case. And the (already previously released) cover version for the Fantastischen Vier of "Born" hits the same note. Here, the melody and vocals of "The Song" were also brazenly stolen, which also appeared on "Hasenchartbreaker" (2000). So it's double reheated, but that doesn't make it any tastier. And finally, the last song, which is again exactly the same as "Refräng". Just without lyrics and the word "Immediately". I also don't want to miss mentioning the interlude of the "luxury version" of the CD, which has developed into something rather embarrassing and presents a Sesame Street level... All in all, a good single "You Not" + a nice video, but unfortunately, you don't need more from this album, and with 13 songs, offering four already known songs borders on a rip-off and is becoming the "least band in the world".
