And then there’s a really cool cover to go with it. A man with a gas mask, a television in his hands, a burning city behind him — that’s how you’re welcomed.
For some, it’s off-putting; for others, it’s an entry into a familiar world.
The band from Limburg an der Lahn has been making trashy noise for several years now and has just released their second album, “Born from Damnation.” Or should we rather call it a mini-album? There are only eight songs included on the CD.
Now, mass doesn’t have to mean class, so let’s see how the ears react when they’re served Limburger trash metal.
While I don’t hear any smacking sounds from my ears, I would be very surprised if I did, but what I do hear is enjoyable.
The recording is tailored to the sound. There are no booming metal guitars, no overproduced drums, and no vocals that are doubled and tripled just to turn a small voice into a roaring bear. It’s down-to-earth. Just as it should be in proper trash metal. The sound was captured raw in the studio.
Satisfaction arises not only from the good recording but also from listening to the songs. They offer plenty of variety and technical skill, so the disc doesn’t get boring even after multiple listens. Quite the opposite. The songs burrow into the ear canal like slow but highly dangerous worms and settle there like burrs, like hungry burrs that want to be fed. They prefer the sound of the band. Loud and headbanging.
This CD can truly be recommended to any trash metal fan. It’s doubly recommended, as the band, due to the recent departure of their drummer, will likely not be playing any concerts in the near future. So this disc is a good interim solution and a decent substitute satisfaction for the band’s fans.
