I wonder if there has been a person in this world who has shouted since the dissolution of the "Böhsen Onkelz" in 2005: "New Onkelz bands are needed in this country!". This would not only explain why there are so many imitators of the Frankfurt combo, but also why the band "Enorm" has decided to release their album "Dosis E".
Yes, you heard that right: "Enorm" bears quite a resemblance to the Onkelz, with these parallels being even stronger to the famous "imitator faction".
This is particularly evident in the lyrical outpourings that the band has kindly conjured up in their booklet. For it becomes clear that there are probably four more people on this planet who "go their own way", like to serve others with solid excretions from their one-way digestion system, and further concern themselves with topics like "beer".
It is getting old, really. Once again, one can look forward to the album "Dosis E" featuring self-congratulatory, "You-Are-an-Asshole-and-I-Am-a-Cool-Guy-Because-I-Go-My-Wonderful-Way" lyrics and of course beer tent songs, for which one would need at most the IQ of a naked mole rat.
However, many listeners might find it controversial when the song "Farbe unserer Herzen" plays. It is a message to all those who want to politically color music and messages. It says: "Deutschrock (DR) is not brown, DR is not red, try to change that, you won't kill us. DR remains German, even if you don't want it. The color of our hearts beats black-red-gold". I am already looking forward to the typical trench battles that fans or supporters of these lines will have with those who oppose these words. This would give a few more people a life task.
The only reason this record stands relatively well compared to the silver disc of "Thekenprominenz & Martens Army" is the elaboration of the songs. Even though the structure of the songs is extremely simple and similar (one could fit quite a few lyrics to the same melody, they would all fit well), it is still somewhat enjoyable to listen to the voice – which sounds quite sassy and dirty – and the instruments. While this does not really alleviate the bluntness of the lyrics, one is still willing to overlook it a bit. Moreover, the four Berliners seem like they could really create some atmosphere during a live performance, but only as a supporting act. Unfortunately, it is not enough to attract more than alcoholics or extremely vain people to the stage. Besides, I can't shake the feeling that at times other bands have been "borrowed" from... either it sounds roughly recycled from their own songs or they have listened to their favorite album so much that the chords have slipped right over to their own guitar. Sounds nice, but at times it still feels like "I've heard that before".
It is really a shame that people with musical talent invest their energy into something that is already abundantly available. However, it doesn't look bad in itself: With songs like "Blut", "Ein Tag am Meer", "Enorm vs. Bonkers" or "Proklamation", the folks have certainly produced a few works that one can enjoy more often without already being annoyed by the style. So why this unnecessary emphasis on their own ego? Why are "Enorm" so reclusive? Do they want to distinguish themselves as clearly as possible from "the others" to see themselves as a "screamed minority" on the stronger side?
I don't understand it; 1-2 songs would suffice, but the fact that such messages spread over almost the entire album rather indicates insecurity and stiffness, which does not do the CD any good. Fortunately, this downfall is cushioned by a few exceptions and leaves me hopeful that "Enorm" will develop a bit further over the course of their musical existence. It would really be a shame.
The album is rather mediocre and really only recommended for "fans" of this "direction", but with a few nice plus points, "Dosis E" saves itself to a 6-point level. Let's see if something changes in the near future, as the potential of the screamers promises possibly a higher score in the future. For my part, I will keep an eye on the guys and hope that they will reward my trust.
