Unfortunately, I had never heard of "The Baboon Show" before, but the girls and boys from Sweden are already releasing their 4th album. This is the first one in Germany, and one can only say that it was really about time because: These Swedes sound really great with an interesting mix of 77-style punk rock with a slight metal touch à la Manowar! No joke, I somehow feel reminded of that, and the band's very own sound really sticks in your ear. Especially the 2nd track of the record is a real hit: "You got a problem without knowing it" is a real banger, and the singer's voice convinces here just like in all the songs on the album because it comes across as really sassy and gritty! Lyrically, there are also clear political statements: In "I don’t wanna go to the USA," the band sings about how they never want to go to the States and that the "White House" is, after all, the biggest shithole in the universe. Great! My other personal recommendations are: "Playing with fire" or "We fight in the night in the bushes" and "Punkrock-Harbour." Somehow, nothing sounds the same with this band, and the whole album is musically much more varied punk rock with a completely unique style and beautiful guitar rock 'n' roll solos. Highly recommendable! The only downside here is really the meager promo package in a cardboard sleeve and without the great lyrics of the band as a booklet! But that probably has less to do with the band and more with the distribution and label, which likely don’t have money growing out of their asses in times of the financial crisis or for whatever reason! However, you should really consider expanding the promotion for this amazing band. It’s worth it ;-)
